The Restaurant was born in 1961 in Costigliole d'Asti from an idea conceived by Guido Alciati and his wife Lidia.

The restaurant Guido da Costigliole, today run by Monica, Andrea and Luca, moved in 2002 inside the Relais San Maurizio in Santo Stefano Belbo, a 17th-century monastery founded by Franciscan monks in 1619 who lived there until 1802 introducing in that area the cultivation of vines. After the Franciscans there were the Trappists and then the Cistercians until 1862 when the property became private residence of the Count Luigi Incisa Beccaria. In 1997 it was bought by the present owner who, after a careful restoration, transformed into a resort as part of the prestigious & Chateaux.
