The Azienda Agricola Azelia is located in the municipality of Castiglione Falletto, a small village in the Langhe, at the heart of the Barolo production area. Founded in 1920 by Cavalier Lorenzo Scavino, Luigi’s great-grandfather, the farm initially represented a small farming reality.

Luigi’s grandfather, Alfonso, then decided to vinify the grapes from the family vineyards and began bottling the wine produced. Thanks to Luigi’s father, Lorenzo, with perseverance and determination, the wines were exported for the first time. Over 100 years of history and five generations represent a significant achievement for the family. Now, Luigi, with more than 40 vintages of experience, is joined by his wife Lorella and his son Lorenzo, who bears his grandfather’s name and now represents the fifth generation of winemakers. Luigi continues to apply his father’s teachings, combining them with a suitable amount of modern techniques, while respecting tradition and vinifying only grapes from their own vineyards. The family management is essential as it allows for extreme care in every production phase. Great attention is devoted to work in the vineyards. Almost all operations are carried out by hand. Wine is made in the vineyard, from old vines that produce very few bunches. Low yields are further reduced by green harvesting, which is essential to select the fruits, ensure uniform ripening, and achieve impeccable quality. Meticulous attention in the cellar, respecting tradition and controlling every detail, is fundamental. The vineyards are located in Castiglione Falletto, Serralunga d’Alba, and Montelupo Albese.
