Chef-Owner Weng Yongjun is a master Chinese chef‑entrepreneur born in Ningbo, Zhejiang, the founder of the celebrated Yong Fu restaurant group . He launched Yong Fu in Shanghai in 2011, later expanded to Hong‑Kong in 2019, elevating home‑style Ningbo coastal food into world‑class fine‑dining.
His culinary philosophy centres on ingredient‑driven authenticity: daily‑shipped wild seafood from the East China Sea, minimal heavy seasoning, respecting natural, seasonal flavours while applying refined modern techniques. Under his leadership, Yong Fu becomes the most decorated Ningbo‑cuisine brand, holding Michelin One‑Star, Black‑Pearl Two‑Diamond / Three‑Diamond, plus high scores on La Liste across Shanghai and Hong‑Kong outlets.
He does not chase flashy culinary theatre. Instead, he believes regional Chinese cuisine deserves a prominent global stage. Apart from the flagship high‑end Yong Fu, he built a multi‑brand portfolio covering different price tiers, from premium banqueting to casual approachable Ningbo dining. He received the One‑Knife Award at The Best Chef Awards 2025, honouring his dedication to preserving and reinterpreting China’s coastal gastronomy.
Yong Fu Shanghai focuses on top‑tier private fine‑dining; Yong Fu Hong Kong brings authentic Ningbo seafood to Hong‑Kong diners, keeping Weng’s original flavour vision, run by his long‑time disciple as executive chef.
