chef ALESSANDRO MECCA – AL CASTELLO DI GRINZANE CAVOUR

Alessandro Mecca, born in 1984 in Turin and awarded a Michelin Star in 2018, is currently at the helm of the restaurant housed in the historic Castello di Grinzane Cavour, home to the Regional Wine Cellar of Piedmont. Since 2023, alongside his business partner Marco Ceresa, he has embarked on a new culinary journey that blends the grandeur of the castle with a classically rooted cuisine interpreted through a contemporary lens.

His culinary style, inspired by the great Italian masters, is described as a “cuisine of gesture, made with love and beauty.” Deeply anchored in Piedmontese and Langhe traditions, his cooking embraces modern techniques and creative expression. The medieval setting of the castle, overlooking the rolling Langhe hills, provides the perfect stage for a cuisine that celebrates the territory with elegance and authenticity.
A chef by heritage, Mecca began his career in his family’s historic Turin restaurant, “Crocetta,” before honing his skills in renowned kitchens such as “L’Estate di San Martino,” “Guido da Costigliole,” “Al Sorriso,” “La Ciau del Tornavento,” and the acclaimed “D.O.M.” in São Paulo under Alex Atala. Prior to his current role, he led the kitchen at “Spazio7” within the Sandretto Re Rebaudengo Foundation in Turin for seven years, establishing himself as one of the city’s most refined culinary voices.
