Monet and the Impressionists in Normandy. Masterpieces from the Collection Peindre en Normandie

After the great success of the Chagall exhibition “Colour and magic”, ended on February 3, which welcomed 46,908 visitors, thanks to a project shared with Vittorio Sgarbi, from September 13, an exceptional exhibit featuring 75 works telling the story of the impressionist movement and its close ties with Normandy arrives at Palazzon Mazzetti in Asti.

On this land’s stage, painters such as Monet, Renoir, Delacroix and Courbet – on display together with many others – grasped the immediacy and vitality of the landscape by impressing on the canvas the moods of the sky, the sparkle of the water and the verdant valleys of Normandy, the cradle of Impressionism.
Thanks to Fondazione Asti Musei, the exhibition “Monet and the Impressionists in Normandy. Masterpieces from the Collection Peindre en Normandie” curated by Alain Tapié, traces the main stages of the artistic current: Works such as Falesie a Dieppe (1834) by Delacroix, La spiaggia a Trouville (1865) by Courbet, Camille sulla spiaggia (1870) and Barche sulla spiaggia di Étretat (1883) by Monet, Tramonto, veduta di Guernesey (1893) by Renoir – among the masterpieces on display – tell of the exchanges, The comparisons and collaborations between the greatest of the time – immersed in a dazzling nature of intense colors and glittering landscapes – have given Normandy the emblematic image of the happiness of painting.
An exhibition project that focuses on the heritage of the Peindre en Normandie Collection, one of the most representative collections of the Impressionist period, alongside works from the Musée Alphonse-Georges-Poulain in Vernon, the Musée Marmottan Monet in Paris and the Bemberg Foundation in Toulouse.
