On Saturday 17th and Sunday 18th the historic palaces of Asti will open their doors to the flavors and perfumes of the Tartufo Bianco d’Alba and of the wines presented by the Consorzio Barbera d’Asti e vini del Monferrato and from the Consorzio dell’Asti DOCG.
An occasion to further deepen your knowledge of the excellent fall produce from Piedmont through show cookings, sensory analyses and wine tastings. In addition to these there will be various formative and scientific conferences about the Tuber magnatum Pico, as well as many opportunities to buy local products and truffles at the mostra mercato del tartufo, and on Sunday at the Fiera Regionale del Tartufo.
The two-day event will be inaugurated on Saturday 17th November at 11pm, at Palazzo Mazzetti. For this occasion, the Centro Nazionale Studi Tartufo, alongside the Regione Piemonte will hold a conference entitled “Truffles, managing the heritage”. The conference will be held in collaboration with IPLA (Istituto Piante da Legno e Ambiente).
Palazzo Alfieri will host, for the two days, the mercato del tartufo, a unique space where visitors will be able to buy the Tuber magnatum Pico, from 10am to 7pm. All truffles will only be sold if they fulfill the qualitative standards set by the Quality Commission, which checks each Tartufo Bianco d’Alba individually.
Within Palazzo Alfieri, other prestigious events will be taking place, one of these being the Foodies Moments (the show cookings) where the Tartufo Bianco d’Alba will meet gourmet cuisine, at 11am and 5:30pm on both days. Local chefs will lead these shows, two of them being Enrico Trova (from Osteria del Diavolo) and Giuseppe Palermino (from Ristorante La Braja). On Sunday, the 18th, at 4pm, the best dish and best truffle will be awarded prizes at Palazzo Alfieri by the Associazione Trifulao Astigiani e Monferrini.
In occasion of the two-day event, Palazzo Alfieri will host an exhibition showcasing Mark Cooper’s photographs. Moreover, the great British photographer will present his project entitled “Earthscapes – the Art of Landscape”.
For gourmet lovers, the mirror room in Palazzo Ottolenghi will be the place to be. Immersive experiences will allow visitors to discover the organoleptic characteristics of the Tuber magnatum Pico and of the treasured wines of the Monferrato, Langhe and Roero area.
At 11am both Saturday 17th and Sunday 18th November, guided sensory analyses will take place, run by the judges of the Analisi Sensoriali. Wine Tasting experiences with the Consorzio Barbera d’Asti e vini del Monferrato and the Consorzio d’Asti DOCG will also take place throughout the two days, at 3pm and 5:30pm.§

The best restaurants of Asti and the area surrounding it will be offering special dinners focused around the Tartufo Bianco d’Alba paired with wines from vineyards members of the Consorzio Barbera d’Asti e vini del Monferrato and members of the Consorzio d’Asti DOCG, from the 13th to the 18th of November. The following restaurants will be participating in the unique initiative. Osteria del Diavolo, La fioraia, l’Antico Casale, Madamavigna, Francese, I Bologna, San Marco, Il Cascinalenuovo, La Braja, Il Podestà, Roico lago di Codana and finally Angolo del Beato.
The project “I Mille Profumi del Monferrato” is connected to external events which enrich the cultural landscape of Asti, one of these being Chagall’s “Colour and Magic” exhibition at Palazzo Mazzetti.

A lecto magistralis held by historian Franco Cardini will take place on Saturday the 17th of November at 4pm at the Archivio di Stato, within Palazzo Mazzola, which hosts the Museo del Palio, free of entry.
