The International Alba White Truffle Fair confirms once again in 2025 its role as a laboratory of thought and action on the theme of sustainability — understood in its broadest sense: environmental, social, and economic. It offers the public a unique opportunity to reflect on urgent issues such as climate change, biodiversity, social equity, and food education.

In this context, the truffle becomes a symbol of balance, respect for nature, and connection between humans and the environment.

Embodying and amplifying this vision is the project “Sostenibilità Incrociate” (Crossed Sustainabilities”), with its various formats within a cycle of events developed in collaboration with gastronomic storyteller Paolo Vizzari.

The event is in Italian.

TALK AND SOLIDARITY DINNER WITH TORTELLINI AND ALBA WHITE TRUFFLE

As part of the International Alba White Truffle Fair, the “Crossed Sustainabilities” series of events expands with a special evening dedicated to human sustainability and social inclusion.

At 6:30 PM on Thursday, November 6, at the Teatro Sociale “G. Busca” in Alba, a public event will feature two outstanding organizations:

  • Il Tortellante from Modena – a social project founded by Massimo Bottura, Osteria Francescana, and Lara Gilmore, involving young people with autism spectrum disorders in the artisanal production of tortellini, promoting autonomy, dignity, and integration.
  • Emmaus Cooperative, with the 8Pari project, which combines work, inclusion, and sustainability through wine production and the employment of individuals facing social challenges.

Following the talk, at 8:30 PM, a charity dinner will be held at the Sala Beppe Fenoglio, organized in collaboration with Il Tortellante, Emmaus Cooperative – 8Pari, and Osteria Sociale di Montebellina.

This dinner will be a unique opportunity to enjoy a gastronomic and solidarity-driven experience, where local excellence comes together: Il Tortellante’s handmade tortellini will be served with Alba White Truffle, paired with 8Pari wine, a tangible expression of a project that blends inclusion and quality.

A moment of sharing, flavor, and social commitment, where food becomes a tool for dialogue, participation, and change.

DAWN TO EARTH AWARD TO ENRICO CRIPPA

The “Dawn to Earth” Award will be presented on Friday, October 31 at 10:30 AM in the Historic Hall of the Teatro Sociale “G. Busca” in Alba, during a public event with free admission.

The International Alba White Truffle Fair is honored to present this year’s award to Enrico Crippa, chef of Ristorante Piazza Duomo, for his extraordinary contribution to gastronomic sustainability and the enhancement of the local territory.

A visionary and innovative chef, Enrico Crippa has transformed cuisine into a universal language that speaks of nature, beauty, and responsibility. His culinary philosophy is distinguished by a deep respect for seasonality and the rhythms of the earth, expressed through a biodynamic garden hosting over 400 varieties of vegetables, grown naturally and harvested daily. His work reflects a constant pursuit of quality and authenticity, with careful attention to the origin of ingredients, prioritizing local territory and small-scale producers.

His commitment to taste education and biodiversity is embodied in iconic creations such as the Salad 21, 31, 41, a symbol of balance and harmony between humans and nature.

With this award, the Fair celebrates not only Enrico Crippa’s talent and creativity, but also his role as a game changer in the international culinary scene — inspiring real change in the relationship between humans, food, and the environment. He joins the ranks of past awardees: Norbert Niederkofler, Chiara Pavan and Francesco Brutto, Andreas Caminada, and Manu Buffara.

UNESCO: A TERRITORY THAT SPEAKS TO THE WORLD THROUGH ITS HERITAGE

On Sunday, November 2 at 11:00 AM, at the Teatro Sociale “G. Busca” in Alba, a special event will take place dedicated to creativity as a driver of cultural and gastronomic sustainability.

The protagonist of the event will be Chef Isabella Potì, a rising star of Italian cuisine, co-founder of Bros’ restaurant, and ambassador of a culinary approach that blends technique, territory, and artistic vision. Her participation pays tribute to a new generation of chefs who interpret food as a creative language and a tool for change.

Joining her will be representatives from several UNESCO Creative Cities, engaging in dialogue with Alba – UNESCO Creative City for Gastronomy since 2017 – to explore the role of creativity in building sustainable models of urban, cultural, and social development.

The event will be an opportunity to reflect on how gastronomy, design, art, and culture can intertwine to generate shared value and elevate local identities on a global scale, highlighting the unique territorial context in which the International Alba White Truffle Fair takes place — a one-of-a-kind setting, recognized and protected by UNESCO for its extraordinary cultural, landscape, and intangible value.

This corner of Piedmont boasts three prestigious recognitions, making it an international reference point for taste culture, landscape preservation, and the promotion of traditions:

  • The Langhe-Roero and Monferrato Vineyard Landscapes, inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 2014
  • The title of UNESCO Creative City for Gastronomy, awarded to Alba in 2017
  • The inclusion of Truffle Hunting and Extraction in Italy on the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage List, achieved in 2021

2024 Edition

On Tuesday, October 29 and Wednesday, October 30, 2024, the event “Sostenibilità Incrociate” took place in a completely renewed format.

“Keeping sustainability at the core—declined along the three axes of environmental, social, and economic— the 2024 event ‘Sosteibilità Incrociate’ returned in a completely renewed format. It featured chefs and artists in a unique performance orchestrated by gastronomic curator Paolo Vizzari in collaboration with Samuel Romano.

As per tradition, the fair dedicated a space to younger generations: thanks to a project curated by cultural anthropologist Valeria Margherita Mosca, a didactic installation was created to illustrate the evolution of food and nutrition from the Neolithic era to the present day, addressing the theme of biodiversity and its value for the future.”
