In 2019, with the involvement of Limoges, a French town famous all over the world for its ceramics and, like Alba, part of the UNESCO Creative Cities network, the project that sees the involvement of great companies in the creation of the “Alba White Truffle Kit” is completed.
It is the prestigious Maison Raynaud, historical producer of refined table services in Limoges, that has created “Pepita”, a precious object that best reveals the fragrance, aroma and freshness of the Alba White Truffle.
Designed by Mariela Schwarz Montiel inspired by the precious stones and the logo of the International White Truffle Fair, this refined porcelain container represents with its facets the perfect way to carry and present the most extraordinary jewel of nature.
The truffle-slicer “Alba”
The chance to re-think an elitist tool, already present in the kitchens of the 1700s, was born from the collaboration between Alessi, Centro Nazionale Studi Tartufo, Ente Fiera Internazionale Tartufo Bianco d’Alba. A meeting of excellence that combines in a single object the uniqueness of a local product, the Alba White Truffle, with the most advanced design, designed by Ben van Berkel.
“The design of ‘Alba’ is inspired by the interweaving of tree roots and the tuber knots. We have been working for a long time to find the best ergonomic position and the right weight balance when the truffle-slicer is being held in the hand. To allow the best ergonomics during the cutting operation and to reduce the pressure on the wrist we have created an 18 degree angle between the handle and the blade. The application of these parameters made it possible to combine a sculptural shape with practical use”. Ben van Berkel
The gloves “Trace”
The gloves Trace, designed by Patricia Urquiola, complete the offer of design objects, always functional and of high quality, conceived to store, touch and slice the precious truffle.
Patricia Urquiola chose a pattern derived from the irregular shapes of the truffle shavings. It guarantees a secure grip in the handle of the truffle slicer, an indispensable object to enjoy the Tuber Magnatum Pico that releases the maximum perfume when sliced very thinly.
Giacomo: you need to have a nose for truffles…
From the collaboration with Gufram comes the new piece of the kit dedicated to the Alba White Truffle: the truffle brush – conceived by Job Smeets – dedicated to Giacomo Morra’s genius.
Giacomo is the truffle brush conceived by Job Smeets‘ unconventional genius: from his kaleidoscopic and imaginative iconographic catalogue the designer has actually chosen the iconic image of the “nose”, transforming it into a functional and at the same time evocative object of the olfactory experience which, by anticipating the pleasure of taste, is the very essence of the Alba White Truffle.
